Hanabata

/hah-nah-BAH-tah/

Snot. Also used for the 'snotty-nosed kid' days — your childhood.

From Japanese "hana" (nose) + "bata" (butter). Literally nose butter — snot. But the more common usage is "hanabata days" meaning the old days when you were a little kid with a runny nose. A nostalgic word. "Hannabatta days" = when we were small, carefree, and ran around barefoot.
